What is the meaning of a name ?. But for Muslims, not so. The name is something of value. The name is so important because a name is considered also as a prayer to Allah.
In giving the name to the child, may be among the parents do not know the rules of Islam regarding the names that may be, makruh, and even forbidden. To avoid or correct errors and to provide the name of the child, here is his review.
a. The Muslims have agreed to the illegitimate use of the names of servitude to other than Allah Ta'ala either from the sun, statues, human or otherwise, for example: Abdur Rasul (servant Apostle), Abdun Prophet (slave of the Prophet), etc. Meanwhile, in addition to the name of the Prophet., Eg: Abdul 'Uzza (Al-'Uzza servant (name statue / idol), Abdul Kaaba (the servant of the Kaaba), Abdus Syamsu (servant of the Sun) and so on.
b. Giving names to the names of Allah wa Ta'ala Tabaraka, eg: Rahim, Rahman, Kholiq etc.
c. Giving the name of the foreign names or the names of the unbelievers.
d. Giving names to the names of the statue / idol or deity other than Allah., For example: Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza ..
e. Giving the name of the foreign names which derive from Turkey, Faris, Berbers and other areas.
f. Each name that praise (tazkiyyah) against themselves or contains lies. Messenger of Allaah alaihi wa sallam said;
"Verily the most hated by the name of God is a man named Malakul Amlak (king of kings)," (HR. Bukhari & Muslim).
g. Giving names to the names of Shaytaan, eg Al-Ajda 'etc.
The Dimakruhkan names
a. Dimakruhkan giving children names with the names of people fasiq, adulterers etc.
b. Dimakruhkan give the child's name with the name of ugly deeds or acts immoral.
c. Dimakruhkan give the child's name with the name of the followers of Pharaoh, eg: Pharaoh, Korah, and Haman.
d. Dimakruhkan giving children names with the names of animals that have been known to be the properties of ugly, for example: dog, donkey etc.
e. Dimakruhkan to name a child with Ism, mashdar, or properties that resemble against lafzdz "religion", and lafadz "Islam", eg: Nurruddin, Dliyauddin, Saiful Islam etc.
f. Dimakruhkan give a double name, eg: Muhammad Ahmad, Muhammad Sa'id, etc.
g. The scholars memakruhkan to name the names of the letters in the Qur'an, eg Thoha, Yasin etc.
Solutions
The second way out of this is to change these names with the names of the preferred (mustahab) or allowed in syar'i. And to change the name of this we can come to the ministry / department in charge of this issue.
Indeed the Prophet. change the names implies shirk to Allah Almighty to Islamic names, of the names of kufr to the names imaniyah.
It was narrated from 'A'ishah radhaiallahu' anha, she said:
"Verily the Messenger of Allaah alaihi wa sallam changed the names of the bad into the good names," (HR. AT-Tirmidhi).
